| Frequently Asked Questions |
| What is BSM? |
BSM is a student organization at the University of Houston. Our “home” is the Baptist Student Center, located on the UH Campus.
BSM provides opportunities for spiritual growth, making friends, leadership, service, and missions. We have everything from big events with lots of people, to small groups and one-on-one mentoring, so there is a place that is just right for you!
Whether you've been on your spiritual journey for a long time already or just trying to make sense of all this spiritual stuff and have lots of questions... you are welcome at the BSM. Though we will never push Jesus down your throat, we are ALWAYS willing to discuss what it means to follow Jesus if you choose to do so! |

Do I have to be Baptist to attend? |
| Absolutely not! In fact, lots of us, including members of the BSM CORE Leadership Team, are not Baptist. The name “Baptist” indicates something about our heritage and the way we get funding. So come on by the BSM, everyone is welcome! |
| |
| Are you a church? |
| No. But we are supported by dozens of local churches. The BSM encourages all our students to be actively involved in a local church; we never want to take the place of church in anyone's life. Our supporting organizations include the BGCT and the UBA. |

| How do I join? |
|
 |
| Just start coming! We don’t have a membership; we just have events and people come. Our events are open to all UH students and our group is very diverse. Join our weekly email updates now. |
| |
| What kinds of things do you do? |
| We have activities almost every day of the week: large groups, small groups, studies, and socials . Find out how to get involved. |

What happens in your building? |
| The Baptist Student Center is open Monday through Friday for you to relax, study, and play games. We have comfy couches, a kitchen, a ping pong table, a pool table, and a cabinet full of games. It’s a great place to hang out and meet people. We hope you will come by often! |

| Missions / Service Projects? |
| We have several opportunities each semester for you to serve others. These projects happen through your small group, the BSM as a whole, during Spring Break, or on your own through GO NOW Missions. |
| |
| I'm from another country, would I feel welcome at the BSM? |
|
|
| Of course. We have friends and alumni from around the world! We look forward to getting to know you and becoming your friend. Each Thursday evening @ 7pm we plan a special party just for you. During these weekly parties, you will have the opportunity to share your culture with us as well as learn about and participate in American culture and costumes. |

| I'm a transfer student, what about me? |
| We enjoy ALL new students & look forward to meeting you at our next BSM event. Changing schools can be a tough experience so we'd like to help you "fit in" to UH asap. Hopefully, you'll have the opportunity to meet new friends @ the BSM as soon as you walk in the door. Make sure you join us for special new students events & talk to a BSM staff member to see how you can help out & get pluged in. |

May I park in the BSM parking lot? |
| The UH BSM parking lot is reserved for BSM staff (this is the only place our staff can park), guests of BSM, and students actively involved in BSM. If the parking lot is full, you'll need to park elsewhere. Individuals not active in BSM weekly activities will be towed at the vehicle owners expense. |
| |
Please note that the BSM parking lot is a courtesy, not a privilege. You must be prepared to park in university parking if our lot is full. After 7:00pm, you can park in the UH campus lot next to & behind our building without being ticketed. (Park at your own risk.) |
